Manchester United fans were furious with referee Craig Pawson when he whistled for half-time as they looked set to spring a counter-attack against West Brom on Sunday.

Albion had the ball at the United end of the pitch for the majority of stoppage time due to winning a few corners but as soon as the away side got the ball clear at The Hawthorns, they started to counter-attack.

However, before the Red Devils could get the ball up the pitch, Pawson blows up for half-time after the allotted two minutes was up.

Pawson's decision sparked an angry reaction from Man United players and left plenty of their fans crying on Twitter.

A section of Man United fans were left distraught by the fact a Premier League referee wouldn't play over the allotted stoppage time to let them have another shot at goal.

It must be so, so difficult to not win a title for a few years and not have Howard Webb officiating in the Premier League any more.

It must be so tough on you when a referee doesn't magically add more minutes to a game to let you have a chance at goal - all because you struggled in a first-half against one of the worst Albion teams in Premier League history.

We're so sorry that Pawson didn't give you more time to launch a counter-attack that would have no doubt ended with Anthony Martial kicking the ball out of play.
