Gibbs missed Leeds clash with illness
Kieran Gibbs was missing from the matchday squad the game against Leeds because of an illness he picked up on Monday.
That was the response from manager Slaven Bilic after the 1-0 defeat at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
Left-back Gibbs missed three games with a groin problem before making the bench for the 2-0 away win at QPR.
“He had a virus in the stomach,” Bilic said as quoted in the Birmingham Mail. “He had diarrhea, and he didn’t train.
“He had to stay inside for 24 hours yesterday and so that’s the reason why he didn’t travel with us.”
The 30-year-old has made 79 appearances for the Baggies since his £6.75m move from Arsenal, and he’s scored four goals and added seven assists.
Bilic went on to say that Gibbs could be fit for Cardiff’s visit to the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.
West Brom are currently second in the Championship after losing their unbeaten record to Leeds. Last night’s game was the first time they haven’t scored this season.
