Some West Brom fans urge player to ‘sign on the dotted line’ and agree new contract

Nathan Ferguson has been one of the brightest young talents in the Championship this season and West Brom fans have been over the moon to see the club’s academy pay dividends once again.

The 19-year-old full-back won Sky Sports’ man of the match award on his senior debut against Nottingham Forest in August and has since established himself as one of the first names on Slaven Bilic’s teamsheet.

However there is one issue with Ferguson – his contract expires at the end of the season.

West Brom fans had this worry with another academy product last season when Rekeem Harper waited until the summer before he eventually put pen to paper on a new deal despite reported interest from Tottenham [Daily Mail] and Celtic [Daily Record].

Clearly, Albion fans do not want to go through the same again with Ferguson, especially as the defender is now a key part of the squad having started 10 out of the club’s 11 Championship fixtures.

In the wake of Jamie Soule penning a new contract at The Hawthorns and Birmingham-born Ferguson congratulating his team-mate on Twitter, a section of West Brom supporters have bombarded the teenage sensation with messages urging him to follow suit and agree to sign fresh terms.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies want to sign this loanee on a permanent deal in January.
