‘Who knows what will happen?’ – West Brom attacker discusses Hawthorns future
Oliver Burke has admitted that he does not know what the future holds for him at West Brom once his loan deal with Alaves expires at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old signed for the La Liga side on a temporary basis in August and has since made four appearances in the Spanish top-flight, assisting one goal in the process.
Burke, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic, is already making the effort to learn Spanish to aid him in his time at Alaves.
But after that loan deal expires, the Scotland international is not entirely sure what is in store for him.
“I’ve got to start having lessons three times a week. I’ve got a teacher already organised and it’s not just because I’m there – it’s a life thing as well,” Burke told the Daily Record.
“Spanish is a big language and it will be good for me to learn. Hopefully I can learn a lot.
“Just now it’s only a short loan until the end of the season and who knows what will happen after that. But it will be nice to learn.”
Burke has failed to impress at West Brom since Tony Pulis signed the attacker from RB Leipzig in 2017.
He’s made 24 appearances across all competitions since for the Baggies and scored just one goal, which came against Luton Town in the Carabao Cup last season.
Albion are unlikely to have made a decision on Burke’s long-term future at The Hawthorns just yet but the fact that he has been sent out on loan in each of the last two transfer windows suggests that the ex-Nottingham Forest attacker is hardly in the forefront of Luke Dowling’s mind.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies want to sign this loanee on a permanent deal in January.
