Matheus Pereira shares what he wants to achieve in English football
Matheus Pereira has said that he wants to play in the Premier League with West Brom.
The 23-year-old has been a big hit already after joining from Sporting on a season-long loan.
He’s scored two goals in the last three games and added five assists.
The good news is that West Brom have already agreed terms on a permanent transfer for Pereira with both Sporting and the player, and the winger has set out his ambitions with the club.
Talking in the Birmingham Mail, Pereira said, “I want to play in the Premier League and would love to do it with this club. I have a lot of ambitions and objectives but I like to approach them step by step.
“The objective is promotion. We want to see the whole club happy. I know this is what everyone feels in the dressing room.
“We want to see everyone smiling at the end of the season because that would be beautiful. The players, their families, the supporters, the staff…all excited that we have gained promotion. That would be a great feeling and that is our objective.”
There’s already a feel-good factor at The Hawthorns, thanks to new manager Slaven Bilic and the fact that the club are top of the Championship.
Leeds might be favourites for the title but West Brom proved they’re more than a match for them despite a 1-0 defeat, and were only the second team to have more of the ball then them at home since Marcelo Bielsa took over at the start of last season.
