West Brom make decision on whether to appeal Ferguson red card – report

West Brom have decided to not appeal against Nathan Ferguson’s sending off in the 2-2 draw against Charlton at The Hawthorns on Saturday, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Ferguson, 19, was handed his marching orders in the second half after a strong and reckless challenge on Addicks ace Chris Solly.

Slaven Bilic did not feel as though there was any malice in Ferguson’s tackle but it is understood that he will accept the teenager’s three-match ban with Conor Townsend and, once fit, Kieran Gibbs waiting in the wings to start at left-back in the coming weeks.

Ferguson could have done with a spell out of the starting line-up anyway.

The full-back has done brilliantly for the Baggies this season but his recent performances, especially against Barnsley last week, have been well short of what have been expected of him.

Luckily for West Brom, Townsend has shown a strong run of form when coming off the bench to replace Ferguson.

Townsend, 26, assisted Matheus Pereira’s equaliser in the draw with Barnsley and also did a solid job when he was substituted on against Charlton on Saturday.

In other West Brom news, Clinton Morrison was blown away by this Baggies ace in Saturday’s four-goal draw.
