West Brom in pursuit of non-league striker with 10 goals this season – report

West Brom are among a number of clubs who are in pursuit of non-league centre-forward Ronald Sobowale, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that Sobowale, 22, is currently on trial at Middlesbrough after impressing in the early stages of this season by scoring 10 goals in 11 appearances for Bet Victor South East League side Whyteleafe.

It is understood that as well as the Baggies; Watford, Leicester and Fulham are also interested in the striker, who is the cousin of Bayern Munich star David Alaba.

West Brom have already shown a willingness to add obscure players to their squad having signed Cheikh Diaby for their Under-23s earlier this month.

It shows that there has been a bit more thought put into recruitment since Slaven Bilic’s appointment as manager in the summer as Albion fans would not normally see their club pinching young players from Europe.

Matheus Pereira and Filip Krovinovic were both signed on loan in the summer transfer window, which shows that West Brom’s scouting team has spread it’s legs and is now searching across Europe, rather than just the top two tiers of English football.

In other West Brom news, this former England coach is in the running to be Albion’s new Under-23s boss.
