‘Could play for any team in the world’ – Some West Brom fans hail one player after win v Stoke

West Brom went back to the top of the league with a convincing 2-0 win over managerless Stoke on Monday night at the bet365 Stadium.

Matty Phillips got the first goal early on and the contest was never really in doubt after that, although it took until the 69th minute for Hal Robson-Kanu to make the tie safe from the penalty spot.

Grady Diangana made the first, playing a neat one-two before crossing for Phillips to finish. And it was Diangana who was scythed down by Cameron Carter-Vickers for the penalty for the second, dispatched cooly by the newly-invigorated Robson-Kanu.

He should have had a second but put his header against the woodwork, but the match was already done.

The man of the match didn’t get a goal but Romaine Sawyers was brilliant in the middle for the Baggies. He controlled the game and he left many Baggies fans purring on Twitter.
