‘He does too many sexy things’ – Bilic blown away by ‘bargain’ West Brom summer signing

Slaven Bilic has been blown away by the impact that Matheus Pereira has had since completing his switch to West Brom in the summer transfer window.

Albion signed Pereira, 23, on a loan-to-buy deal and the Express & Star has since reported that personal terms have already been agreed between the player and the club ahead of a permanent move from Sporting CP next summer.

Baggies boss Bilic is thrilled with what he has seen from the Brazilian attacker so far in the Black Country and he admits that the future £8.25million permanent deal is a snip for the West Midlands club.

“Yes – if we get promotion,” said Bilic, as quoted by the Express & Star, when asked if Pereira is a bargain.

“No, you’re right, Pereira is a bargain anyway.

“But it’s still early days. He also has to stay focused and lift the bar.

“Sometimes he does too many sexy things.

“But is he good? Yes, he’s good. Very good, I love him, but he has to be even more ruthless.”

Pereira’s form has been a real driving force behind West Brom this season.

Him, Grady Diangana and Matt Phillips have torn defences apart in the Championship and that trio has performed so well that the lack of goals from the Albion centre-forward has not caused too many issues.

Pereira has scored three goals and supplied eight assists in his 12 Championship appearances.

The Brazilian will no doubt be hoping to add to that tally on Monday night when the Baggies take on Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium.
