Hull City hit by significant injury blow ahead of clash v West Brom

Hull City have been hit by a major injury blow ahead of their Championship game against West Brom on Saturday.

They’ve won three games on the spin to move to 11th in the table but they’ll have to face the Baggies without playmaker Jon Toral, who has been ruled out with a knee injury.

The news was confirmed in the pre-match press conference on Thursday after scan results following the game against Fulham last week.

Manager Grant McCann said, “It’s disappointing for us and frustrating for Jon because he’s been in good form, but it is what it is.”

“He’ll miss the weekend and we’ll see how he is after that. He’s had a scan and we’ll take it from there. In terms of the extent of it, we probably won’t know until after the weekend.”

Toral has started the last three games – all wins – after a stop-start career at Hull following a near-£3m move from Arsenal in the summer of 2017.

West Brom are top of the table after a run of five unbeaten. The Baggies lost to Hull 1-0 at the KCOM last season but hadn’t previously lost there since 2014 in the Premier League.
