‘Wonderful’ – Tony Pulis drools over one West Brom player after win v Hull

Tony Pulis has been waxing lyrical about Jake Livermore after the midfielder scored the winner for West Brom in their 1-0 victory away at Hull City on Saturday.

Livermore, 29, bagged his second goal of the season for the Baggies as they kept themselves top of the Championship table going into the final international break of 2019.

Livermore notably refused to celebrate scoring against the club that West Brom signed him from for £10million in January 2017.

Pulis was in charge of Albion when that transfer was made and the Welshman cannot speak highly enough of his time managing the ex-Hull midfielder.

“I’ve managed a lot of players in my career and Jake’s up there with the best in respect of his character and his attitude around the place. He’s just a fantastic lad,” said Pulis during his appearance on EFL on Quest on Saturday night.

“He should score more goals actually and he shows in this clip here that he’s got the ability to do it.

“He’s a wonderful, wonderful lad.”

Even without his goal, Livermore was probably the best player on the pitch for West Brom as they earned a narrow victory at the KCOM Stadium.

According to stats by WhoScored, the 29-year-old won three tackles – only Conor Townsend won more for the Baggies – and made two clearances and five interceptions.

Only Romaine Sawyers and Matheus Pereira completed more than the 54 passes that Livermore made as he bossed the midfield brilliantly throughout the 90 minutes.

One downside of the midfielder’s display was that he received his fifth yellow card of the season, meaning that he is suspended for the clash against Sheffield Wednesday later this month.

In other West Brom news, fans were over the moon with this 30-year-old’s performance against Hull on Saturday.
