Report: Liverpool eye teenage West Brom forward

Liverpool are in pursuit of young West Brom forward Jovan Malcolm, according to Football Insider.

The news outlet claims that the European champions are plotting a move to sign the 16-year-old after regular scouting missions to see him play for West Brom’s Under-18s.

Malcolm scored four goals as West Brom’s youth side beat Liverpool’s Under-18s 6-3 last week and that has clearly prompted the Premier League leaders to firm up their interest.

Football Insider adds that there are other top-flight sides who are interested in Albion’s impressive young striker and that has led to doubts surrounding his future at The Hawthorns.

Youngsters who have risen through the ranks of West Brom’s academy have found themselves on the radar of some of Europe’s top clubs this year.

Also in the summer, Morgan Rogers was snapped up by Manchester City while Liverpool have sunk their teeth into the Baggies’ youth set-up over the years with players like Yan Dhanda and Jerome Sinclair quitting the Black Country club to head to Merseyside.

Malcolm is not the only youngster currently on West Brom’s books that Liverpool are eyeing up too with the Sun reporting last week that another 16-year-old forward, Rico Richards, is also in their sights.

In other West Brom news, Slaven Bilic has transformed this 29-year-old from being a scapegoat into a firm Hawthorns favourite.
