Darren Bent warns West Brom about summer signing
Darren Bent has warned West Brom that West Ham could change their mind about whether or not to recall Grady Diangana in January.
As quoted by the Express & Star last week, Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini said that it would be better for Diangana, 21, to see out his season-long loan at The Hawthorns rather than be recalled by the out-of-form Premier League club in January.
West Ham have not won in any of their last seven matches across all competitions and there are concerns that, despite Pellegrini’s comments, the London club will want their in-form attacker back to help their form in the top-flight.
Although the latest update is seen as good news for West Brom, Bent claims that the West Midlands club should not rest easy just yet.
“It’s a great signing for West Brom to get him and it looks like they’re going to keep him which is good,” Bent told Football Insider.
“I know West Ham are saying that now, that they’re not going to recall him, but if they keep slipping down the league, things might change. They’re showing no consistency whatsoever, losing games.
“For me, it’s great for West Brom, they’re flying. If they can hold onto him, I think it’s a great signing.”
Diangana has been in terrific form for West Brom this season and while Pellegrini’s comments are a boost, Slaven Bilic and technical director Luke Dowling should take them with a pinch of salt.
Albion failed to win promotion last season and that was largely down to Harvey Barnes not being adequately replaced in January.
Even with Pellegrini’s comments, Bilic and Dowling should be eyeing up potential replacements just in case Diangana is forced to go back to West Ham.
In other West Brom news, one player Albion should try to sign if Diangana leaves is this dazzling MLS winger.
