Some West Brom fans react to Gareth Barry display in 2-1 win v Sheffield Wednesday
Go back several months and it seemed as though Gareth Barry had no future at West Brom after his contract expired at the end of last season.
However on Saturday, the all-time Premier League appearance record holder made his first appearance for the Baggies since being re-signed by Slaven Bilic in the 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday at The Hawthorns.
Barry, 38, only came off the bench for the final 26 minutes but he certainly impressed a section of West Brom supporters on Twitter with his impact.
The former Aston Villa and Everton midfielder completed 93 per cent of his passes, won one tackle and one aerial duel [WhoScored] has he helped the Baggies earn a last-gasp victory.
It was just the display that was expected of someone as experienced as Barry as the veteran midfielder’s composure and leadership shone through at the climax of what was a rather tense match.
West Brom fans on Twitter were impressed by what they saw from Barry and here is a selection of their tweets:
Thought Townsend was poor yesterday,
Second half- no-one stands out other than Barry!! Says it all when a team plays poor with key players missing as we still grind out results.
On to Wednesday #wba

Gareth Barry came on and in the dying minutes got touched and fell over in our own box to win a free kick.
Exactly the type of experience to go with the youthful exuberance that is needed to do well in this league.

Age is just a number, brunt and barry controlled and changed the flow of the game when they came on. Wasn't pretty at times but a big 3 points #WBA
