View: West Brom 30y/o can lead Baggies to first five-in-a-row since 2010

Fair play to Leeds on Saturday as they swatted Middlesbrough aside 4-0 and leapfrogged West Brom to go back to the top.

We knew when we played them at Elland Road that they were a good side. That win makes it five in a row for them.

Now it’s our turn.

A win against Preston tonight will see us make it five in a row and we’ll go back to the top, two points clear and seven points ahead of Fulham in third. That’s the most important thing. If Leeds go up as champions and we finish second you’d be hard-pressed to find a West Brom fan who cares.

It’s not going to be easy. Preston haven’t lost at home all season. They’re the only team in the Championship apart from the Baggies who haven’t lost at home.

The last time West Brom won five-in-a-row was in March 2010 when a 1-0 win against Coventry City put Roberto Martino’s side on the brink of promotion back to the Premier League. Brunty played all five of those games before missing out on the 1-1 draw against Reading.

West Brom didn’t lose another game that season and another three victories were enough for promotion.

Hal Robson-Kanu should get the chance to lead the line again tonight after winning us over with some incredible form after signing a new contract. He’s scored five in the last seven now and amazingly he’s only scored more than that in a season once when he got seven for Reading in the 12/13 Premier League.

Slaven Bilic has literally given him a new lease of life.
