‘This could be a cricket score’ – Sky pundit predicts West Brom clash v Wigan
David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will pick up their seventh consecutive victory with a 2-0 win against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Wednesday night.
Albion returned to the top of the Championship table in emphatic fashion on Sunday when they hammered Swansea 5-1 at The Hawthorns.
Although ex-Leeds midfielder Prutton claims that this could be a high-scoring game, he has backed Wigan to keep the Baggies at bay a lot better than Swansea did at the weekend.
The Sky Sports pundit has predicted a 2-0 win for West Brom and does not expect Slaven Bilic’s men to break much of a sweat in picking up those three points.
Writing on the Sky Sports website, Prutton said: “I really do worry for Wigan here. The fact they haven’t won an away game all season is troubling in itself, but Paul Cook’s men aren’t having much luck at the DW Stadium either and have lost their last three at home.
“The Baggies, however, come to Lancashire in blistering form and will be looking for a seventh straight win, having effortlessly routed Swansea 5-1 at the weekend. This could be a cricket score, if recent wins are anything to go by but I’ll go for something more respectable.”
In their last two home games, West Brom have won by scoring nine goals but on the road, they are not as free-scoring as they are in the Black Country.
Albion have the joint-best away record in the league – along with second-placed Leeds – but have scored just 13 goals in 10 games.
Hull, Sheffield Wednesday, Brentford and Bristol City have all been more prolific on their travels than West Brom, so Prutton’s prediction of a 2-0 victory is perhaps a realistic scoreline that Albion fans can expect on Wednesday night.
In other West Brom news, Bilic could be forced into one change for the trip to Wigan.
