Some West Brom fans rave about one player in 1-1 draw v Wigan: ‘Terrific’, ‘MOTM all day long’
West Brom fans were delighted with the performance of Sam Johnstone in their 1-1 draw against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Wednesday night – even though the goalkeeper was credited with an own goal.
Wigan took the lead in the second half when Sam Morsy’s long-range effort came back off the crossbar to hit Johnstone on the back and then cross the line.
It was rotten luck for the former Manchester United goalkeeper, who has been very impressive for West Brom in recent months.
However, despite the agony of an own goal, Johnstone still managed to blow West Brom fans away with his display at the DW Stadium with a couple even suggesting that the goalkeeper was their man of the match in Lancashire.
And on what was a frustrating night for the Black Country club, it is quite hard to disagree that Johnstone was the stand-out player for the Baggies.
Here is a selection of tweets by fans who were thrilled with Johnstone’s outing:
West Brom failed to return to the top of the Championship by dropping points at Wigan but have the opportunity to overtake Leeds on Saturday when they take on West Midlands rivals Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.
In other West Brom news, Iain Dowie has delivered his verdict on two penalty appeals in the draw with Wigan.
