Report: West Brom in pursuit of Ligue 1 right-back with £4m valuation
West Brom are interested in signing Bordeaux right-back Enock Kwateng but face competition from West Ham and Brighton, according to the Telegraph.
Kwateng, 22, has made eight appearances since joining Bordeaux on a free transfer from Nantes in the summer but it seems as though his spell at the Matmut Atlantique could be a short-lived one amid interest from England.
It is understood that Kwateng is valued at just £4million, which means he is being viewed as a potential bargain by prying eyes from across the English Channel.
The former France Under-20 international has a decent level of experience in Ligue 1 for his age, earning 48 top-flight appearances across his spells at both Nantes and Bordeaux and West Brom could find themselves in need of a new right-back in January.
According to a report by the Sun, young right-back Nathan Ferguson is attracting attention from the Premier League and across Europe due to his impressive form at The Hawthorns and the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season.
Ferguson could well be sold in January so that West Brom avoid losing him for next to nothing in the summer and Kwateng may well be on Slaven Bilic’s radar as a possible replacement for 19-year-old Ferguson.
Is Kwateng good enough for West Brom? Based on the fact there is interest from the Premier League and he is already an experienced player in Ligue 1 for his age, he may well be someone for fans to keep an eye out for over the coming weeks.
In other West Brom news, Bilic could make three changes to his starting line-up for the clash against Barnsley on Boxing Day.
