West Brom in hunt to sign PL centre-forward willing to make drop to Championship – report
West Brom are in pursuit of goal-shy Southampton centre-forward Che Adams, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims that Albion’s Championship title rivals Leeds United are also interested in signing the 23-year-old on loan in January but Southampton are reluctant to allow their £15million summer signing to leave.
It is understood that Adams would be willing to drop to the Championship in a bid to recapture his form after failing to impress on the south coast since his big-money move from Birmingham.
Adams was on fire for Blues last season, scoring 22 goals in 46 league appearances.
However he has been unable to hit the same rhythm at Southampton, where in-form Danny Ings has established himself as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first-choice striker.
Despite his lack of Premier League goals, Adams would no doubt be a superb addition to West Brom’s attack based on his record at Birmingham last term.
Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu may have 14 goals between them this season but their goals have started to dry up over the festive period and Adams could provide the spark that the Baggies need to revive their faltering form.
In other West Brom news, new West Ham boss David Moyes has discussed Grady Diangana’s loan at The Hawthorns.
