‘If I’m honest…’ – Neil Warnock comments on West Brom in C’ship promotion race
West Brom have been suffering from somewhat of a blip in their current form in the Championship.
The Baggies managed a 1-0 win in their recent FA Cup clash with Charlton, and they will be hoping for the same result when they travel back down on Saturday afternoon.
Slaven Bilic will only care about one thing though, being in the top two, and also maintaining their nine-point gap to the playoffs and Brentford in third.
Neil Warnock has recently commented on the Championship promotion race, claiming that things could have been completely different in another year.
“I think Fulham have got the best squad, if I’m honest, in the whole league, they’ve got the best squad,” he said on talkSPORT.
“I think Brentford have got the best strikers, and I think the two others, West Brom and Leeds are both up there but in a good season, I still think they’re both sort of, not run of the mill, but I don’t think they are top of the league if I’m honest.
“Whether the league has gone the other way, I think they’ve just been consistent really and that’s why they’re up there.”
West Brom fans won’t care what Warnock has to say, but he certainly has a point when it comes to the Baggies.
Bilic’s men should be eight in the Championship according to the stats below – with their expected points total sitting on 39, compared to the 52 they have actually accumulated.
So, it could suggest that West Brom are lucky to be where they are this season, something that doesn’t count for much – with the current table all that matters.
