Report: C’Ship duo retain interest in permanent deal for rarely-seen West Brom 21-year-old
The curious case of West Brom loanee Chris Willock fails to get any clearer in the near future.
Yet to kick a ball for the first-team, Willock has had to settle for game time with the under-23s. The closest he has got to making his debut was two appearances on the bench in cup games against Millwall and most recently Charlton.
So, it would be no surprise to see him leave the Midlands this month, and there is no shortage of interest.
The Birmingham Mail has reported that Championship duo Stoke City and Huddersfield Town have retained an interest in a permanent deal for the 21-year-old despite his lack of minutes for the Baggies.
It has been suggested though that there has been no contact made from either Benfica B or the Championship duo over Willock, who at this moment remains at the Hawthorns.
There have also been suggestions of interest from Holland, with Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard reportedly keen on a deal for the midfielder.
Slaven Bilic failed to make it any clearer for us either. The Baggies boss claiming that it is simply down to competition in the squad as to why Willock hasn’t featured.
The Croatian claimed that he has to wait for his chance in the first-team, something which would suggest that he sees a future at the club for the midfielder – who is impressing in the academy.
This one doesn’t look to be getting clearer, and either outcome in January would make complete sense. It has turned into a waiting game.
