‘Calamity’, ‘Needs to be dropped’ – Some West Brom fans slam mainstay in 2-2 v Charlton
West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to slam goalkeeper Sam Johnstone for his performance in the 2-2 draw against Charlton on Saturday.
Albion may have moved to the top of the Championship table with their draw at The Valley but their performance was – yet again – nowhere near good enough and failed to meet the expectations of the fans who made their way down to the capital.
Johnstone, 26, has been widely criticised by some sections of the Baggies’ support this season and there was a point where he even took to Twitter himself to hit back at his critics.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper has, on the whole, had a very good season but he is still prone to the odd poor game.
And on Saturday, at Charlton, it was definitely a poor display by the Baggies number one.
Johnstone should have commanded his area better when Charlton scored their first goal and you just get the feeling that he was not switched on properly for the match.
Hopefully, it is just a blip in his form and he can improve in time for next week but there’s no denying that it was a bad outing by the goalkeeper.
However calls for him to be dropped after that performance are very knee-jerk.

In other West Brom Brom news, Ally Robertson has urged the Baggies to go “all out” to sign this striker.
