West Brom are yet to sign any new players this month but it does appear as though they have taken a serious interest in former Swansea left-back Martin Olsson.
Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi has reported that Olsson, 31, is set to train with the Baggies on a week-long trial before potentially earning a short-term contract at The Hawthorns.
Olsson has not played for over a year due to an injury he suffered in the last year of his contract at Swansea and has been a free agent since the end of last season.
Although he is bound to lack match fitness, the Sweden international remains a very experienced left-back with 197 appearances in the Premier League and 107 in the Championship.
West Brom might need to bolster their left-back options before the current transfer window slams shut with Kieran Gibbs suffering injury setback after injury setback this season.
There are also doubts surrounding Nathan Ferguson’s future at The Hawthorns and Conor Townsend has not really shown that he is a strong enough option to hold down the starting left-back role permanently.
There are pros and cons with Olsson’s potential arrival so we at West Brom News asked our panel of Super Fans to offer their thoughts on the Swedish full-back.
Here is what they had to say:
