View: Bilic admission suggests January could end in tears for West Brom
Slaven Bilic has insisted that fresh faces won’t be key to turning around the fortunes of West Brom this season.
The Croatian instead claimed that his current squad will be vital at the Hawthorns as they lost once again on Monday against Stoke City.
Bilic has admitted that new players won’t be key behind the Baggies finding their good form from the start of the season.
“You have to dig in, work hard, be together and get it back. Get it back,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“Not because of this result, we were speaking even five weeks ago we were also talking about a couple of players who will refresh the team.
“Of course we need it. Hopefully, we are going to get them, but these players are the key. New players are not the key. These players are the key and we have it.”
With Grady Diangana injured and Matheus Pereira injured, it is a surprise that West Brom aren’t pushing harder for fresh faces in the January window.
A new signing in the final third would certainly be welcome, with Charlie Austin, Hal Robson-Kanu and Kenneth Zohore all struggling to cement a spot. If a striker came in and scored 10-15 goals between now and the end of the season, it could make all the difference.
Bilic’s admission could suggest that this month could end in tears for the Baggies, who might not bring in any signings at all.
