Report: West Brom set to renew contact with FIFA as they seek Barry compensation
West Brom are set to ask FIFA to act once again this week as they seek compensation from Barcelona for young forward Louie Barry.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who have reported that the Baggies are yet to receive a payment of around £130,000 by the Spanish giants.
The Midlands club are due a set fee from Barcelona based on FIFA rulings and are now pleading with the world governing body to take action.
Barry has since moved on to Aston Villa, who paid an initial £880,000 fee which could rise up to £3million.
The Baggies have already contacted FIFA in December, and are set to renew their push for compensation once again after Friday’s transfer deadline.
It seems strange that the Spanish club still hasn’t handed over the compensation for the youngster, with the fee still so minimal compared to the money they have paid for players such as Frenkie De Jong in recent years.
Slaven Bilic will be more concentrating on his side’s current league form, with Nottingham Forest now only two points behind the Baggies after yet another disappointing result against Cardiff on Tuesday.
There have been concerns over the striking options at the Hawthorns. Hal Robson-Kanu and Kenneth Zohore can’t seem to consistently find the back of the net, whereas Charlie Austin can, but only off the bench, it seems this season.
With problems over strikers both on and off the pitch, the Baggies will be hoping that both are resolved by the end of February at the latest.
