Sky Sports pundit claims astute signing will hand West Brom ‘real boost’ this season
Paul Robinson has hailed West Brom for the loan signing of Sheffield United attacker Callum Robinson.
The Sky Sports pundit has claimed that the astute piece of business will hand the Baggies a real boost in the Championship after their recent struggles.
West Brom announced the capture of the Republic of Ireland international on Thursday, with the 24-year-old signing until the end of the season.
Robinson has claimed that the signing of his namesake could be just what Slaven Bilic needs, with his side only picking up one win since mid-December in the league.
“It’s good for him because Sheffield United paid money for him so they obviously know he is a good player but he’s not got his game time there,” he told Football Insider.
“It could be a real boost for West Brom, to be honest. He could be just what they need, what they’re looking for. He’s fit, match fit so he’ll go straight into the team and I think it’ll be a really astute signing on loan.”
Bilic was clearly after attacking players in the window, adding Robinson and Kamil Grosicki. The Sheffield United loanee has valuable Championship experience and can play anywhere across a front-three.
In his final year in the Championship with Preston, Robinson was involved in 15 goals at Deepdale. He also averaged an impressive three shots on goal in each game according to WhoScored – compared to the current Baggies squad, Matheus Pereira averaging the most with 2.1 per outing.
A new signing always gives a club a boost, and Robinson could be the difference between automatic promotion or the play-offs once again if he starts finding the net.
