View: Injury report could lead to West Brom January signing making big impact at Hawthorns

Crystal Palace believe that West Brom defender Nathan Ferguson requires surgery on his knee after he failed a January medical to complete a move, it was recently revealed by the Athletic.

The 19-year-old was set to complete a move to Selhurst Park last month after the two clubs reportedly agreed to a deal worth up to £11million.

That would have been a superb deal for the Baggies, especially given the fact that the defender’s current deal runs out at the end of this current season.

This latest update could lead to January signing Lee Peltier having a big impact at the club between now and the end of the season.

Peltier arrived from Cardiff on transfer deadline day and raised many eyebrows of competing clubs at the top of the Championship.

The 33-year-old has a wealth of experience at this level, and Slaven Bilic could look to him to come and fill the void left by Ferguson if he goes under the knife.

Comparing the two via WhoScored, it is clear that the former Cardiff and Leeds man could have been a very smart addition in the Midlands.

Peltier has been much more solid in defence. Outside of Ferguson making more tackles, the right-back has completed more interceptions, clearances, and blocks as well as making fewer fouls per game.

West Brom haven’t got the best defensive records in the Championship, conceding the most goals in the top-five spots.

The introduction of Peltier into the back four could go a long way to tightening things up at the Hawthorns in the next few months.
