Luke Dowling: West Brom January signing has ‘something different’ to rest of squad
West Brom sporting and technical director Luke Dowling has been raving over the January signing of Kamil Grosicki.
The Polish international arrived at the Hawthorns from Hull City, signing an 18-month deal that has been described as relatively risk-free.
Dowling claimed that Grosicki gives Slaven Bilic something different in his current squad, admitting that he is a high-quality winger that will consistently give a 7/10 performance in the Championship.
“He’s something different to what we’ve got,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“He’s a powerful, strong runner that knows the league. When we signed him I mentioned that he’s always that 7/10 player that’s got the skill and capability of producing a winning moment, be it an assist or a winning goal.”
Grosicki arrived at the Hawthorns shortly after the Baggies also confirmed the loan signing of Sheffield United attacker Callum Robinson – a player that was targeted in the summer.
Bilic confirmed recently that Grady Diangana will be missing until atleast March, but the arrival of Grosicki could more than soothe that blow.
Comparing the two via WhoScored, it is clear to see that the experience of the Polish star could definitely make the West Ham loanee a distant memory over the next month.
Grosicki has been involved in more goals this season, as well as completing more shots, key passes per game. He also loses the ball much less compared to Diangana, who has attracted more fouls.
Dowling is clearly excited by the potential of Grosicki at the Hawthorns, with his first taste of action surely set to come on Sunday in the trip to Millwall.
