Reliable journalist claims it is highly unlikely that West Brom mainstay will play another game

Reliable journalist Joseph Masi has claimed that it is highly unlikely that Nathan Ferguson will play another game for West Brom.

The Express and Star correspondent revealed that the Baggies defender is set to undergo exploratory surgery in the next week after his move to Crystal Palace collapsed as the Premier League club found a problem in his medical – something West Brom disagreed with.

Palace had agreed a £10million deal with £2million set to come in add-ons, but the 19-year-old was not interested in returning to the Hawthorns on loan.

Masi shared the news on his personal Twitter account on Friday morning, with the journalist confirming that Ferguson’s agent has expressed the players’ desire to leave the Midlands club despite not sealing a move last month.

Conor Townsend and Dara O’Shea both started at full-back in the 2-0 win over Luton recently, and both excelled. That will surely lead to them keeping their spots against Millwall in the upcoming clash.

Behind them is the returning Kieran Gibbs, Darnell Furlong, and also January signing Lee Peltier who could replace Ferguson for the second half of the season.

Comparing the former Cardiff defender to the Baggies defender during this campaign via WhoScored – it is clear to see that Peltier is stronger in defending.

The 33-year-old has completed more interceptions, clearances, and blocks – as well as being dribbled past fewer times in each outing.

Peltier also makes fewer fouls, with Ferguson being caught out double the amount of times when defending for the Baggies.

The immediate reaction to Ferguson potentially never playing again for West Brom could be sadness, but in the long run it could benefit Slaven Bilic to not have a player at the club who doesn’t want to be there.
