‘Very good player’ – Championship manager raves over reported West Brom target

Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate has been raving about West Brom transfer target Harold Moukoudi.

The Frenchman joined Boro on loan from Ligue 1 side St-Etienne on transfer deadline day, and made his first start against Brentford on Saturday.

He wasn’t able to prevent the promotion-chasing Bees from claiming an important 3-2 victory, but he did perform well.

However, he’s somebody who the Baggies admire, as well. French outlet L’Equipe reported in the past that the Midlands outfit like the look of the 22-year-old centre back.

Now, Woodgate has lavished praise on him for his first appearance in the Championship.

“He did very well, he’s going to be a real player,” he said, as per the Teeside Gazette. “is composure, he was very good on the ball; quick, strong.

“He’s going to be a very good player that kid. I’m pleased for him.”

Moukoudi is only at Boro on loan, of course, so there’s every possibility that West Brom could still steal in and sign him permanently come the summer.

Certainly, if the Baggies secure promotion they’ll be much more attractive a proposition to the youngster than Woodgate’s team, even if he has spent time there.

Still, it was encouraging to see him put in a solid performance on Saturday against very strong opposition.

In other West Brom news, a veteran player has been speaking of his disappointment at not leaving the club last month.
