‘Quality’ – Rowett heaps praise on West Brom trio after Albion win 2-0 v Millwall

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has singled out Matheus Pereira, Filip Krovinovic and Hal Robson-Kanu as three West Brom players his side failed to manage on Sunday.

Slaven Bilic’s men enjoyed one of their finest away performances of the season over the weekend at The Den despite the awful weather conditions in the capital.

Goals by Croatian playmaker Krovinovic and young defender Dara O’Shea sealed all three points for the Baggies to create daylight between themselves and their fellow promotion-chasers at the top of the Championship.

It was arguably Krovinovic’s best display in a Baggies shirt since his loan move from Benfica in the summer but Lions boss Rowett suggested that the midfielder wasn’t the only Albion man who stood out in the stormy conditions at The Den.

“They’ve got good players, they move the ball very well,” said Rowett, as quoted by News at Den.

“Players like [Matheus] Pereira, [Filip] Krovinovic, [Hal] Robson-Kanu caused us lots and lots of problems. Any time they got half a yard they looked like they could put someone in, part of which was down to our poor defending but also their quality.”

West Brom struggled over the festive period and while their four-point advantage over third-place is not as good as what it was, the last two matches have shown a marked improvement in form.

Callum Robinson has already made an impact since his late January loan switch from Sheffield United and deadline day signing Kamil Grosicki marked his Baggies debut by assisting O’Shea’s goal at Millwall.

Bilic appears to have ironed out the kinks that appeared in West Brom’s promotion bid around Christmas and throughout January.

Other teams failed to make the most of Albion’s stuttering form in that period and now it is time for Bilic’s men to right wrongs and re-open the lead they once had.

In other West Brom news, fans raved about this 30-year-old’s display at Millwall on Sunday.
