View: West Brom player has finally found his rhythm, could be key in promotion bid
Filip Krovinovic was named as Sky Sports’ man of the match on Sunday as West Brom beat Millwall 2-0 at The Den to move four points clear at the top of the Championship table.
The 24-year-old playmaker got himself on the scoresheet with a superb effort from outside of the penalty area in the first half as he pulled the strings in one of Albion’s most impressive displays of the season.
Since joining West Brom on loan from Benfica in the summer, Krovinovic has struggled to find his rhythm but it would be fair to say that in recent outings, the former Croatia Under-21 international has found his form at just the right time.
After being dropped to the bench for two Championship matches by Bilic when he failed to impress against Leeds on New Years Day, it looked as though Krovinovic would struggle to get much more game-time in the coming weeks.
However a fresh injury for Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira’s suspension led to Krovinovic getting another chance to shine – which he did.
Based on stats by WhoScored, Krovinovic was Albion’s stand-out attacking players against Millwall at the weekend.
He made more accurate passes than any other player [44], more touches [74], made four key passes and scored his second goal of the campaign.
Krovinovic has not exactly been a go-to player for West Brom this season but his form in the wins against Luton and Millwall cannot be ignored.
Right now, the Croatian midfielder seems to be undroppable.
He could be key in West Brom’s bid to secure promotion back to the Premier League if he manages to maintain this kind of form.
