The Sky Sports pundit claimed that having a player of Gibbs’ quality return to full fitness would be a boost for any club in the Championship this season.

Robinson has claimed that it is perfect timing for the Baggies squad as they look to maintain their gap at the top of the Championship.

“It’s a great addition to the squad. For someone who’s been out injured for that long, of that age, experience and quality of player, it going to be a boost to any squad,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s perfect timing for West Brom, just as their form’s starting to pick up, results are coming in, Leeds look like their dropping away a little bit, they’re opening a gap at the top.

“To have a player like that coming back, it’s like a new signing that’s coming in at the right time, when you actually didn’t really need one.”

Gibbs returned to action in the under-23’s Premier League Cup clash with Newcastle on Monday afternoon, much to the delight of many fans.

Although Robinson is spot on by saying having Gibbs back available is a big boost, he shouldn’t expect to come straight back into the starting 11.

Conor Townsend has been superb recently down the left, and it would be harsh on him to be dropped. The 26-year-old once again shined against Reading, making two tackles and completing three interceptions at the Madejski Stadium [WhoScored] – he should keep his spot against Forest.
