Goodman criticises Pereira in West Brom v Nottm Forest
Don Goodman has aimed criticism at West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira for his performance in the controversial 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Pereira, 23, assisted Callum Robinson’s goal in the first half after winning possession in the Forest half and was a constant nuisance for the away side’s defenders up until he was substituted off in the 72nd minute.
As Pereira was making his way off the pitch to be replaced by Matt Phillips, former Wolves and Baggies striker Goodman took a pop at the Brazilian’s display.
“He’s not been as influential as he usually is,” Goodman said on Sky Sports Main Event [02:06pm].
Goodman’s commentary on West Brom games is always a talking point among Albion fans and his performance in the gantry on Saturday should really be raising more questions than Pereira’s performance on the pitch.
According to stats by WhoScored, Pereira had three shots at goal, had 51 touches, completed one key pass, completed two dribbles and, of course, assisted Robinson’s goal.
Pereira was also fouled a lot of times by Forest players, winning Albion plenty of opportunities to score from set-pieces.
It is hard to say whose performance was worse on Saturday.
Goodman’s or the referees.
