Keith Andrews blown away by ‘unreal’ West Brom attacker
Keith Andrews has been blown away by what he has seen from West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira this season.
Since joining the Baggies on a loan-to-buy deal from Sporting CP in the summer, the 23-year-old has been the stand-out player at The Hawthorns, scoring six goals and supplying 16 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.
The Brazilian has recently returned to Albion’s starting line-up with a bang after serving a three-match ban.
He assisted one goal in the 2-0 win over Millwall before scoring his first goal since early December in the 2-1 victory at Reading on Wednesday.
Pereira is a firm fan favourite at The Hawthorns and ex-Baggies midfielder Andrews cannot get enough of watching him play for his former club.
“I think he’s unreal, I really do,” Andrews said on Sky Sports Main Event on Saturday [12:15pm].
“I’ve said it from day dot, since I seen him play live in the flesh, what he does off the ball, the angles he picks up, his movement, the eye for a pass, the end product which he produces more often than not.
“He’s playing from the right in the current set-up of the team. He’s clever. He’s got the license to come in-field, he’s not expected to hug the touchline and the same can be said about Callum Robinson.
“Pereira’s a magnificent player.”
Pereira has not only been the best player at West Brom this season but he has been one of the best in the Championship.
Albion played a blinder by signing him in the summer with the view to a permanent deal because the Brazilian magician seems as though he’s already good enough to feature in the Premier League.
If West Brom manage to seal promotion back to the top-flight, Pereira is going to be a key player.
In other West Brom news, fans are thrilled with this Under-23s player for his latest display and has been compared to Thierry Henry.
