Bristol journalist expects Robins to make three switches to side that will face West Brom

Bristol Post journalist Gregor MacGregor has predicted that Lee Johnson will make three changes to his side as West Brom travel to face the Robins on Saturday.

Macgregor has claimed that Filip Benkovic, Korey Smith, and Famara Diedhiou will all return to the side that lost 1-0 against Leeds last time out.

The Robins were dominated at Elland Road, and it would be no surprise if they made changes for the clash with the Baggies.

MacGregor did claim that if Smith doesn’t make it back from injury, he expects Adam Nagy to return in place of Han-Noah Massengo.

“We foresee the Leicester City man (Benkovic) coming back in, as his distribution from the back and prowess at set-pieces give real assets for City in a tough upcoming game,” he wrote on Saturday.

“The midfield is perhaps the toughest area of the team to predict currently, with much depending on Korey Smith’s knee knock picked up against the Rams.

“We suggest the draining of the fluid from his knee may do the trick and Smith may be able to make this game.

“We go for a well-again Famara Diedhiou alongside Nahki Wells. That would mean Andi Weimann, who came off ill against Leeds United, heading back to the bench.”

West Brom will want to replicate what Leeds did to the Robins last week by essentially starving the home side of any possession.

The Whites had 67% possession at Elland Road, and that led to them having 20 shots on goal compared to Bristol’s three according to WhoScored.

You’d like to think that if the Baggies did the same at Ashton Gate on Saturday, the deficit will be much more than one goal, no matter how many changes Johnson decides to make.
