Chairman confirms PL club set to reignite interest in West Brom star in summer
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has confirmed that the Premier League will revisit a move for West Brom defender Nathan Ferguson in the summer.
That’s also been confirmed by the Birmingham Mail, who have reported that it was expected from the Eagles.
It is suggested in the report that the 19-year-old is highly unlikely to feature at the Hawthorns again after undergoing surgery which is set to keep him sidelined till the end of the campaign.
Crystal Palace had an offer accepted for the young defender in the January transfer window, but the move collapsed when they discovered a knee injury that had previously gone unseen.
That meant that Ferguson returned to the Midlands and has since undergone that surgery to solve the problem, not that it will benefit the Baggies.
Ferguson featured 21 times in the first half of the season and was one of the club’s standout performers in the Championship.
Ferguson mostly played at left-back, a position that has since been filled superbly by Conor Townsend at the Hawthorns.
The 26-year-old has been in great recent form, and that has seen him rewarded by Slaven Bilic keeping his faith in the former Scunthorpe defender.
Townsend has averaged two tackles per game, as well as 1.1 interceptions according to WhoScored, and if he continues on that same path, Ferguson will quickly become a distant memory in the Midlands.
In other West Brom news, Kevin Phillips has been blown away by this Baggies star who was fringe player last season
