‘Player of the season’, ‘Tremendous’ – Many West Brom fans delighted with 30y/o v Bristol City

Captain Fantastico. Captain Magnifico. Jake Livermore was easily the best player on the pitch on Saturday as West Brom ran out 3-0 winners away at Bristol City.

Livermore, 30, is one of a few players who have completely transformed by Slaven Bilic since the Croatian manager arrived at The Hawthorns in the summer and although the midfielder’s form dipped in December and January, it is fair to say he is now back to his best.

The seven-times England international ran the show at Ashton Gate this weekend.

According to stats by WhoScored, Livermore completed a whopping 10 tackles against the Robins – more than any other player on the pitch and way more than his season average of 2.3 per game.

Livermore also made one interception, had four shots at goal, made two key passes and was dispossessed just once.

It was a complete display by the former Hull midfielder, who is going from strength to strength for the Baggies at the moment.

Livermore’s job was made harder in the 77th minute when Romaine Sawyers was shown a straight red card but the Baggies captain was not in any way fazed by his side being reduced to 10 men.

West Brom fans have understandably been full of praise for the central midfielder on Twitter and here is a selection of their tweets:
