Sky Sports: West Brom teenager could start v Preston
Rekeem Harper could earn his first Championship start of the season when West Brom welcome Preston to The Hawthorns on Tuesday, according to Sky Sports.
Romaine Sawyers is suspended for the midweek action in the Black Country after being sent off in the 3-0 win at Bristol City on Saturday.
And with Gareth Barry still recovering from a calf injury, Sky Sports claims that 19-year-old Harper could come into Slaven Bilic’s side to replace Sawyers.
Harper has struggled for game-time since Bilic was appointed in charge of West Brom in the summer.
After appearing off the bench against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season, Harper had to wait until the win over Luton at the start of this month for his second league appearance of the campaign.
The young central midfielder has now been used as a substitute in three of Albion’s last four league games and has also impressed in the FA Cup win against Charlton in January.
It seems that Bilic is finally starting to show some faith in Harper and Sawyers’ suspension could offer the 19-year-old further opportunities to impress the Baggies boss.
