‘Unbelievable’ – Slaven Bilic wowed by one West Brom player v Preston

Slaven Bilic was blown away by Callum Robinson’s assist for Hal Robson-Kanu to score the opening goal as West Brom beat Preston 2-0 at The Hawthorns.

Robinson, 25, has been in tremendous form since joining the Baggies on loan from Sheffield United in the January transfer window and although it was not his finest display in blue and white stripes on Tuesday night, he still provided a moment that wowed Albion boss Bilic.

Robinson must have been about 40 yards out from the goal when he picked out Robson-Kanu with a long-range pass from the left-wing.

The Welsh forward then managed to chest the ball down before finding the back of the net for his 10th goal of the season.

It was a terrific assist by West Brom’s new winger and Bilic could not hide his joy after the game.

“The ball was unbelievable,” said Bilic, as quoted by the Express & Star.

“The quality of that ball from that distance

“When you have players that are separated by just a yard or whatever. That kind of ball is like wow. Different class. And he meant it.

“And when you score that early, of course, it gives you confidence and a great platform to build on.”

Robinson has so far proven to be a game-changing addition to the West Brom squad.

Since he was snapped up on loan from the Blades, he has scored two goals and supplied one assist in six appearances, of which Albion have won five and drawn one.

Grady Diangana’s injury in the festive period was one of the key factors in West Brom’s drop in form but Robinson’s move to The Hawthorns has covered over the fact that the on-loan West Ham winger is still sidelined.

Bilic is going to have one massive headache when Diangana is back but Robinson is undroppable at the moment.
