‘Rolls Royce’, ‘Immense’ – West Brom Super Fans pick Saint & Sinner in win v Preston

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

West Brom were in cruise control on Tuesday night as they beat an unimpressive Preston side 2-0 at The Hawthorns to further stake their claim for Premier League football next season.

Hal Robson-Kanu and Jake Livermore were both on the scoresheet for Albion in the first half before Preston’s Darnell Fisher was sent off after the break.

It was a routine victory for Slaven Bilic’s men and they should really have won by more with Rekeem Harper, Charlie Austin and Kamil Grosicki all having opportunities to extend the Baggies’ lead after Fisher’s red card.

After the match, we asked our panel of West Brom Super Fans to name their Saints and Sinners from the victory.

As expected, it was tough for them to name someone who was sub-par but there were plenty of mentions for who could have won the man of the match award.

Livermore, Robson-Kanu, Rekeem Harper, Semi Ajayi and Ahmed Hegazi appear to be the popular choices among our Super Fans for the Saint of the match.

Hegazi was an absolute brick wall in the defence and even West Brom legend Tony Brown told BBC WM after the game how impressed he was with the Egpyt international.

Harper replaced the suspended Romaine Sawyers almost seamlessly and of course, goalscorers Livermore and Robson-Kanu were bound to be hailed by supporters for their role in the victory.

As far as Sinners go, no one could really be criticised for their display against Preston but Grosicki’s mention is an interesting one because the Polish winger got himself in some good positions inside the penalty area but never really tested the goalkeeper or found a team-mate with one of his passes.

In other West Brom news, there has been an update on Grady Diangana’s recovery from his injury setback.
