Slaven Bilic shares less than definitive update on West Brom star ahead of Wigan clash

Slaven Bilic has shared a less than definitive update on the fitness of West Brom winger Grady Diangana ahead of the clash with Wigan on Saturday.

The Croatian appears to admit that the West Ham loanee is edging closer to a return each week (obviously), but that period appears to be dragging on in recent weeks.

Bilic has now confirmed that instead of Diangana being able to feature in the final 10 games of the season, he is more likely only going to be able to play in seven.

Bilic confirmed the update on Diangana on Friday, with the 21-year-old still recovering from the blow that forced him off against Stoke City.

“It’s probably not going to be ten,” Bilic explained to the Birmingham Mail.

“It ain’t going to be ten. It’s probably going to be seven, eight, if possible nine. Now it’s that fine margin. When the injury happens, you are very free to say ‘eight weeks, nine weeks’, but when it comes down to the last week, you say ‘well, another one, another one’.

“We’re more cautious, yes, but he feels good. He’s feeling very good to be fair. Grady is now in that transition with rehab and training with the full squad.”

The arrival of Callum Robinson has certainly helped ease the blow of losing Diangana this month.

The Sheffield United loanee has been sensational for the Baggies, scoring a couple and assisting one goal in his six Championship appearances.

Robinson has averaged a sensational 4.8 shots on goal per game as well as 2.2 key passes according to WhoScored – numbers that have made Diangana a distant memory at the Hawthorns, also proving he is critical to maintaining this superb run of form.
