‘Poor’, ‘Lethargic’ – West Brom Super Fans pick Saints & Sinners v Wigan
This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.
–––––––––––––––––
West Brom were brought crashing back down to earth on Saturday as their impressive run of form was halted by struggling Wigan.
Sam Morsy’s second-half goal was all it took for the Latics to secure all three points at The Hawthorns and move themselves out of the Championship’s relegation zone.
As for West Brom, they remain top of the league but have seen second-placed Leeds close down the gap to just one point and third-placed Fulham are now only six points away.
It was a terrible performance by Slaven Bilic’s side – perhaps one of the worst of the season.

Not many players stood out and those who have regularly shone for the Baggies were in dismal form.
We have asked our panel of West Brom Super Fans to name their Saints and Sinners from the defeat to Wigan and this is what they’ve had to say:

Sharon (@shazkee)

Nina Simmons (@simmons220990)

Connor Moore (@connormoore_wba)

Luke Pollard (@LukeyP_wba)

Dan Nash (@DanNash86)

As you might expect, our Super Fans struggled to name a player who really impressed them against Wigan but it is interesting that Sam Johnstone, Semi Ajayi and Jake Livermore were mentioned quite often.
When West Brom welcome a team like Wigan to The Hawthorns, it shouldn’t really be the defensive players who are being hailed for their displays.
It is good to see that at least a few did well but still, we would have rather seen the attacking players getting all the plaudits.
Which brings us to Matheus Pereira. What was wrong with him?
It was without doubt his worst performance for the Baggies and it is no shock to see him being singled out as a Sinner by these fans.
Rekeem Harper was almost mentioned a couple of times. The teenager has often divided opinion among West Brom fans and that is no surprise given he started just his second league game of the season against Wigan.
In other West Brom news, there has been an update on Grady Diangana’s recovery from his injury setback.
