Sky Sports pundit surprised by success of West Brom ace who has proved doubters wrong

Lee Hendrie has been surprised with the impact that West Brom striker Hal Robson-Kanu has made at the Hawthorns this season.

The Sky Sports pundit admitted that the Welsh international always had the ability but this season he has proved it in the Championship.

Robson-Kanu made it 10 for the season with his goal against Preston North End, the first time he has achieved that in his career.

Hendrie spoke of the qualities that make him a dangerous player for opposition defences in the rest of the second tier.

“Yes I have (been surprised), I say surprised, but I have always thought he has a very good talent,” he told Football League World.

“He is one of them players that I sometimes think – the balls get away from him, but he sort of lures people in to get away from people.

“I have always thought he has got the potential to go and do good things. Listen, he is top scorer at West Brom this season so he has proved that he can do that.”

Robson-Kanu isn’t exactly the prettiest of players in his style and does the hard work that usually doesn’t get the praise from outsiders.

The Welsh international doesn’t often get assists and goals and his 10 for this season is somewhat of an anomaly in his career.

Robson-Kanu may have surprised some people, but other teams will be wary of his threat going into the final 10 games of the season.
