Report: Key Swansea duo could miss West Brom clash, set for late fitness tests
Key Swansea City duo Andre Ayew and Bersant Celina are both classed as big doubts for the clash with West Brom on Saturday, according to Wales Online.
It is suggested that the attacking pair will push for late fitness tests ahead of the game at the Liberty Stadium in a bid to prove they can feature.
According to the report, Ayew hasn’t even trained this week for the Swans after taking a heavy knock to the foot against Blackburn.
It is reported that Celina is struggling with illness as well as a pelvic issue with Slaven Bilic’s men set to arrive in town.
Conor Gallagher is expected to be available behind Rhian Brewster, with the loan pairing having made a big impact since arriving in January.
As for the Baggies, Romaine Sawyers is expected to return after completing his recent three-match suspension for the red card against Bristol City.
West Brom go into the game as big favourites with Sawyers returning, but that increases even further when you add in the potential absences of Celina and Ayew.
Ayew, in particular, has been fantastic this season at the Liberty Stadium. The 30-year-old has been the standout performer in the final third, scoring 12 and assisting a further five goals.
The Ghanaian international is influential and averages 2.7 shots on goal per game according to WhoScored. Ayew missing could definitely help West Brom, and blunt Swansea’s attack on Saturday.
