Slaven Bilic relays positive West Brom injury update after forced change v Swansea
West Brom boss Slaven Bilic has delivered a positive injury update on Baggies defender Ahmed Hegazi after his setback against Wigan.
The Egyptian international hobbled off just before half-time in the 1-0 defeat to the Latics at the Hawthorns last time out, and initial fears were a bad hamstring injury.
Kyle Bartley stepped back into the side after he lost his spot to the impressive Hegazi in the past month of Championship action.
Bilic confirmed in his latest press-conference that it will only be a couple of weeks on the sidelines for Hegazi after he was forced off last time out.
“Hegazi did his scan, it’s not bad,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“He should be back in a minimum of two weeks.”
Given the serious nature of a hamstring problem in modern-day football, two weeks will appear like the best possible result for the Baggies enforcer.
Hegazi has stepped up massively since replacing Bartley in the heart of defence alongside Semi Ajayi. The 29-year-old helped keep consecutive clean-sheets against Bristol City and Preston, and Bilic will have been impressed.
He was at his best against Preston, making five tackles and completing four clearances according to WhoScored – form that would have seen him cement his spot without injuries.
It is hard to say if he will be a massive miss in the Midlands, with Bartley more than capable of stepping up as he has already shown from the beginning of the season in the Championship.
