Report details what West Brom will urge EFL to do at meeting today

West Brom will urge the EFL to take “every possible action” to ensure that the current season is completed, according to the Express & Star.

The EFL board is meeting today (Wednesday) to discuss the implications of the season being suspended last week due to the coronavirus outbreak in the UK.

As it stands, matches are set to resume on April 3 but with the disease spreading rapidly across the country, that date is likely to change.

The Express & Star reports that West Brom would like to see the remaining nine games of the Championship season completed by June 30 and will support the idea of playing matches behind closed doors if that is the only option.

It is understood that West Brom’s appeal to the EFL is likely to be supported by their fellow members.

Completing the season is definitely the best course of action to take in the spirit of the game but also comes with some difficulties such as contracts and loan deals that expire at the end of June.

Also, if matches are to be played behind closed doors then it could mean that the Baggies faithful will have to witness their team win promotion on television, rather than at The Hawthorns.

That would be a massive shame but if that is what it takes to ensure the season isn’t voided, then so be it.
