Reliable journalist clarifies Charlie Austin situation after being unwell
West Brom forward Charlie Austin has been unwell recently but was never tested for coronavirus, according to Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi.
Last week, the Telegraph’s Sam Wallace reported that Austin, 30, had been “diagnosed with coronavirus” and suffered from acute symptoms.
Austin did an exclusive interview with the Telegraph about being unwell but Wallace’s wording was misconstrued by many.
Express & Star’s Masi has since clarified Austin’s situation with the ex-Southampton forward now, seemingly, on the mend after showing a picture of himself and his daughter on social media this week.
It is understood that Austin was told by a doctor that he had the symptoms of coronavirus but was never told that he actually had the virus.
It is confusing and you can understand why Wallace’s tweet led to many assuming that Austin had been tested as he used the word “diagnosed”.
Thankfully the 30-year-old now seems to be getting closer to a full recovery after going through a period of self-isolation while he was suffering from symptoms of the virus.
No other players in the West Brom squad are said to have any issues too as they train from home in a bid to keep up their fitness levels until football is back.
