Enforced break set to be extended with EFL and PL clubs set for emergency meeting – report

The enforced Coronavirus break is set to continue in England for West Brom with football not set to return on the 30th of April.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who have suggested that clubs have been informed that it will be almost impossible for football to return at any stage next month.

It is suggested that EFL and Premier League clubs are set to meet at some point to discuss a new date for the return – something which is expected in the week.

Boris Johnson announced earlier in the week that England is currently in a state of lockdown to counter the spread of the virus in the country.

Live sport has taken a back seat, and correctly, as the country fights back – something that needs to happen before any suggestions of football returning are thrown into the mix.

West Brom had hit a poor run of form before the break and actually lost top spot in the Championship to main rivals Leeds.

Slaven Bilic has already come out to suggest that the best course of action is to finish the season whenever possible, and the FA have already adjusted their rules for that to actually be possible in the footballing pyramid.

Sky Sports revealed on Thursday that football below the National League will be declared null and void, but that the FA are eager to avoid that being passed through the leagues all the way to the top. That is, however, an example of what the worst outcome could be for the rest of England.
