Promotion contender comments on possibility of catching West Brom after break

Nottingham Forest defender Michael Dawson has claimed that his side could still potentially catch West Brom and Leeds after the enforced break.

The promotion-chasing defender is somewhat out of the race on paper after an average past month in the Championship but claimed the Coronavirus break could have given the chasing pack an advantage.

Forest are currently sitting fifth and are 10 points behind the Baggies who currently occupy the second automatic promotion spot for the Premier League.

Dawson though didn’t see that as a problem with only nine to play, suggesting that it is impossible to call this season null and void.

“A lot can change including teams chasing play-off places, you could even catch the top two (Leeds and West Brom),” he told talkSPORT.

“For me, to end the season now is simply impossible.”

Everyone from the Premier League and the Football League seems to share the same thoughts that the best outcome is to finish the season whenever necessary.

Slaven Bilic has already come out to share his support behind the idea of concluding this season with only nine games left to play. Angus Kinnear of Leeds has also done the same despite the Baggies and them sharing the top-two spots.

The Daily Mail has revealed that football will not be returning on the 30th of April, and with the country on lockdown at this moment it is near impossible to suggest when Dawson may get the chance to prove his point, which could also be nearly impossible to do for his side.
